Emaar Association Conducts a Free Eye Medical Day

Emaar Association for Development and Rehabilitation in cooperation with St. John Hospital and Tamar institute for Community Education conducted an eye medical day for 52 patients.

Basma Center Reuses FM System Device

 

Basma Center for Audiology and Speech Therapy reuses FM System device in the rehabilitation services.

The rehabilitation manager, Mr. Emad Isleem, said that this device is one of the qualitative devices used to promote the rehabilitation level of children with hearing impairment.

Akram Afanah, the rehabilitation specialist at Basma Center, said that the device will increase the children’s linguistic outcomes while clear listening to conversations; this will reflect an improvement in the academic level of the child. Moreover, the device will improve the children speech ability especially in recognizing the sounds that need accurate auditory recognition

A Workshop for the Parents of the Children Included in “Early Detection and Prevention of Hearing and Speech Disorders” Project

Basma Center for Audiology and Speech Therapy held a workshop for the parents of the children included in “Early Detection and Prevention of Speech Disorders” project, in the presence of a team from the Islamic Relief; the project coordinator, Ms. Lina Taha, and the M.E officer, Ms. Heba Abo Jarboo’.

In cooperation with IHH, Basma Center Conducts a Medical Screening

Basma Center for Audiology and Speech Therapy in cooperation with IHH conducted a medical audio screening for children affiliated to their Holy Quran Memorization Centers.

77 children of different age groups were screened in order to detect any problems in their hearing.

Emaar Meets the Head of the Qatari Medical Team

Emaar Association, headed by its board member, Dr. Wael Abo Namoos, meets the head of the Qatari Medical Team- the head of Hearing and Balance Department at Hamad Medical Corporation, Dr. Khaled Abd Alhadi, to prepare for the “Cochlear Implant for Children with Hearing Impairment” project implemented by Emaar.

Dr. Khaled Abd Al Hadi said that this is his sixth time to visit Gaza with his team to conduct about 30 surgeries for deaf children, noting that 118 surgeries were conducted during his last visits, he was proud to say that the children are now able to hear and speak.

 

Basma Center Welcomes the Childhood Project Coordinator of Islamic Relief

Basma Center for Audiology and Speech Therapy, headed by its director and the rehabilitation specialists, welcomes Lina Taha, the childhood project coordinator of the Islamic Relief.

This visit was part of monitoring the implementation of “Early Detection and Prevention of Hearing and Speech Disorders” project funded by the Islamic Relief.

An Announcement (Hearing Aids)

Basma Center for Audiology and Speech Therapy opens the registration to benefit from the hearing aids installation, within the following conditions:

  • The child should be aged between 2 and 5 years
  • The level of the hearing loss is moderate or severe
  • The child has not benefited from a free hearing aids project in the past three years
  • To enroll the child in the “Hearing Rehabilitation” program at Basma Center
  • To follow the instructions of the specialists
  • Not to sell the hearing aids
  • Do not allow a child other than the beneficiary to use the hearing aids
  • Examinations and reports indicating the child’s need for the hearing aids
  • The economic condition of the family will be taken into consideration
  • Must be a Palestinian resident of Khanyounis city

An Announcement (Cochlear Implant)

Basma Center for Audiology and Speech Therapy opens the registration to benefit from the cochlear implant, within the following conditions:

  • No medical contradictions
  • The child should be aged between 1 and 6 years
  • The level of the hearing loss is severe or profound
  • The child has already used hearing aids for at least 3 months without benefiting from the early intervention sessions
  • Family must be willing to deal with the cochlear device and able to provide the spare parts
  • To enroll the child in the “Hearing Rehabilitation” program at Basma Center
  • Examinations and reports indicating the child’s need for the cochlear implant
  • The economic condition of the family will be taken into consideration
  • Must be a Palestinian resident of Rafah or Khanyounis

Health and Community Rehabilitation Department conducts medical screening for Tyoor Aljana Kindergarten Kids

Health and Community Rehabilitation department conducts medical screening (hearing, speech, vision) for 318 kids from Tyoor Aljana kindergarten.

The aim of the activity is to detect kids’ health problems at an early stage to reduce their incidence

The principal of the kindergarten, Ms. Salwa Abo Mosa, thanked Basma Center for Audiology and Speech Therapy and Gaza Center for Visual Therapy for their caring for children’s safety and health.

The Rehabilitation Team Completed the Selection of Children for “Cochlear Implant for Children with Hearing Impairment” project

The rehabilitation team at Basma Center for Audiology and Speech Therapy selected the children who will be targeted in the first phase of the rehabilitation process as part of “Cochlear Implant for Children with Hearing impairment” project funded by the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development- Kuwait.

Fidaa Al Astal, the speech therapist, said that they have selected 36 children from Basma Special School to conduct 1300 free speech rehabilitation sessions and ensured that the selection process followed the protocols of Basma Center.

Worth noting that “Cochlear Implant for Children with Hearing Impairment” project includes implementing 2500 hearing and speech rehabilitation sessions,  provides 30 hearing aids, supplies the ABR device , and implants 10 cochleae.
