Basma Center launches the activities of “Cochlear implant for children with hearing impairment” project

 

As a part of “Cochlear implant for children with hearing impairment” project which is funded by the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development – Kuwait, Basma Center for Audiology and Speech Therapy started implementing the rehabilitation sessions.

Emad Isleem, director manager of the Health and Community Rehabilitation Department, confirmed that the audiologists first check the children’s hearing before they are nominated to receive speech rehabilitation sessions to ensure that speech disorders are not directly related to hearing disorders. He also added that Basma Center team uses the latest medical devices.

Worth mentioning that the project will provide 30 hearing aids, supply the ABR device , and implant 10 cochleae.

Emaar Holds a Workshop on the Launch of the “Cochlear Implant for Children with Hearing Impairment” Project

Emaar held a workshop on the launch of the “Cochlear Implant for Children with Hearing Impairment” project, in the presence of different stakeholders; public and civil institutions and the target groups, to inform them about the project activities.

Different topics related to the project were discussed such as the hearing aids, cochlear device, criteria for the selection of children, families’ role in the rehabilitation process, and the ABR device and its effectiveness in the hearing detection.

Parents also participated and shared their children experience with the cochlea.

Once the workshop is over, Emaad Isleem thanked the attendees and appreciated their interaction in the workshop.

 

 

Basma Center for Audiology and Speech Therapy Conducts a Medical Screening for Sanabel Kindergarten Children
