The Rehabilitation Team Completed the Selection of Children for “Cochlear Implant for Children with Hearing Impairment” project

The rehabilitation team at Basma Center for Audiology and Speech Therapy selected the children who will be targeted in the first phase of the rehabilitation process as part of “Cochlear Implant for Children with Hearing impairment” project funded by the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development- Kuwait.

Fidaa Al Astal, the speech therapist, said that they have selected 36 children from Basma Special School to conduct 1300 free speech rehabilitation sessions and ensured that the selection process followed the protocols of Basma Center.

Worth noting that “Cochlear Implant for Children with Hearing Impairment” project includes implementing 2500 hearing and speech rehabilitation sessions,  provides 30 hearing aids, supplies the ABR device , and implants 10 cochleae.

 

Poverty Reduction department conducts field research on Basma School students

The field research team of Emaar Association conducts field research to identify the living conditions of Basma school students and assess the possibility of helping them to improve the educational and rehabilitating services provided to this marginalized group.

Gaza Center for Visual Therapy in cooperation with Tamer Institute Conducts Free Visual Screening

Gaza Center for Visual Therapy in cooperation with Tamer Institute Conducts Free Visual Screening in Khanyounis governorate.

Doaa Al Abadsah, the director of the center, said that the screening targets people living in Al Mawasi area, a marginalized area in the west of Khanyounis. 50 people from different age groups got benefits from this visual screening. Finally, Ms. Doaa talked about the services provided by Gaza Center for Visual Therapy such as examination, diagnosis, and treatment of strabismus and eye laziness by using the latest medical devices.

Emaar is preparing a development and relief project portfolio to serve citizens in Khanyounis

Emaar Association for Development and Rehabilitation held a workshop on the preparation of a development and relief project portfolio to serve the citizens in Khanyounis, in the presence of the chairman, the vice president, director general, project department, and consultants in development.
Alghamri, the chairman of Emaar, said that the Association started preparing a portfolio of projects to achieve the goals and the strategic vision of the Association to provide the best services to the citizens of the southern governorates.

Abu Musa, the Director General, said that the portfolio was prepared in accordance with the strategic plan of the Association, the plans of the partner ministries, and the plan of people with disabilities prepared by the Association recently. He also pointed out that the portfolio dealt with social, economic, relief, and health conditions of the Gaza Strip. Abu Musa confirmed that the portfolio included 40 proposals at an estimated cost of 6 million dollar.

The Association will do its best to market the prior proposed projects to be implemented in 2019

 

 

Basma Center launches the activities of “Cochlear implant for children with hearing impairment” project

 

As a part of “Cochlear implant for children with hearing impairment” project which is funded by the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development – Kuwait, Basma Center for Audiology and Speech Therapy started implementing the rehabilitation sessions.

Emad Isleem, director manager of the Health and Community Rehabilitation Department, confirmed that the audiologists first check the children’s hearing before they are nominated to receive speech rehabilitation sessions to ensure that speech disorders are not directly related to hearing disorders. He also added that Basma Center team uses the latest medical devices.

Worth mentioning that the project will provide 30 hearing aids, supply the ABR device , and implant 10 cochleae.

Emaar distributes medicines and medical supplies to 52 poor patients in Khanyounis

Emaar for Development and Rehabilitation in cooperation with Poor Patient Fund team distributed medicines and medical supplies to poor patients in Khanyounis.

Rami Alghamri, the chairman of Emaar Association, said that Emaar continued its work with the Poor Patient Fund team from South Africa in implementing “Poor Patient Fund” program. He added that the program has recently provided medical assistance to 52 poor families with an estimated cost of 20,000 $, he also pointed out that the assistance includes surgical operations, urgent medical examinations, treatment, and rehabilitation sessions for people with disabilities.

Finally, Alghamri praised the efforts of the team and hoped that the program will continue to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian patients in the Gaza Strip.

Emaar Holds a Workshop on Atamakan Center for Special Education

Emaar for Development and Rehabilitation held a workshop on “Atamakan Center for Special Education”, which is one of the new centers at the Health and Community Rehabilitation department, in the presence of several specialists in rehabilitation and special education.

The workshop came out with plenty of recommendations will be taken into account to promote the technical and administrative  works in the center.

 

Al Amal Center for Training and Human Development Holds a Briefing Session on the Turkish Scholarship

Al Amal Center for Training and Human Development held a briefing session on the Turkish scholarship, where interested students participated in the session.

Emaad Sleem, the head of the community and rehabilitation department, welcomed the participants and talked briefly about Emaar Association programs and services.

Eng. Alaa Al Fara, a board member, mentioned how it is important to seize the opportunities because sometimes they can totally change our lives.

The guest of the session, Eng. Hamada Shaat, talked about different points about the Turkish scholarship such as the right way to fill out the application, the most significant and famous universities, and how to write a personal statement. In addition, he mentioned several tips for the participants to increase their opportunity in getting the scholarship and replied to different questions arose by the participants.

In the end of the session, Al Amal center thanked Eng. Hamada Shaat for his efforts in the session.

Emaar Holds a Workshop on the Launch of the “Cochlear Implant for Children with Hearing Impairment” Project

Emaar held a workshop on the launch of the “Cochlear Implant for Children with Hearing Impairment” project, in the presence of different stakeholders; public and civil institutions and the target groups, to inform them about the project activities.

Different topics related to the project were discussed such as the hearing aids, cochlear device, criteria for the selection of children, families’ role in the rehabilitation process, and the ABR device and its effectiveness in the hearing detection.

Parents also participated and shared their children experience with the cochlea.

Once the workshop is over, Emaad Isleem thanked the attendees and appreciated their interaction in the workshop.
